The Department was recognized as a Research Centre of the University in 1979.
Candidates can also register for Ph D in social science and humanities subjects
including Library & Information Science, with the Kerala University Library
as the centre. The minimum requirements for registration are:
- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science of the University of
Kerala or a degree recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks; and
- Pass in UGC-NET or pass in eligibility test for Ph.D. registration
constructed by the University of Kerala.
